What is the purpose of this course?


8019 – Schedule transport  

A learner accredited with this standard will be able to use skills and knowledge acquired to plan, as a member of a well-functioning team, the effective and efficient movement of freight locally and internationally.

 

113829 – Operate within a logistics environment 

Learners acquiring this standard will be learning towards obtaining a national qualification or are working within a logistical environment, where acquisition of competence against this standard will add value to learner`s job, or chances of finding employment.

 

113835 – Manage logistics operations    

Learners acquiring this standard will be learning towards obtaining a national qualification or are working within the logistical activities of a company in a management environment, where acquisition of competence against this standard will add value to learners’ job, or chances of finding employment.

 

120366 – Demonstrate understanding of the implementation of occupational health, safety, and environmental legislation in the workplace  

This unit standard requires of learners to demonstrate the ability to implement and maintain health, safety and environmental legislation in a workplace.

  • Prepare delivery schedule for processing the delivery of freight.

  • Decide on the routing, considering safety, cost and geography.

  • Select the type of vehicle/vessel.

  • Assess safety and security of the load against inter alia climate conditions.

  • Load transport efficiently and effectively.

  • Decide on effective communication systems.

  • Allocate internal resources and appoint additional resources.  

 

113829 – Operate within a logistics environment

  • Define a logistics system, the management thereof, as well the logistical activities required

  • Operate within a logistical distribution channel

  • Operate within a physical distribution environment

  • Operate within a store or warehouse environment

  • Operate within an order-processing environment  

 
113835 – Manage logistics operations  

  • Managing customer satisfaction.

  • Measuring and controlling the overall costs of logistics activities.

  • Managing the transport function.

  • Managing the warehouse function.

  • Managing inventory and the purchasing function.   

  • Managing order processing function.

 
120366 – Demonstrate understanding of the implementation of occupational health, safety, and environmental legislation in the workplace

  • Explaining the legislative framework of health, safety, and environmental legislation at the workplace.

  • Demonstrating knowledge pertaining to the requirements regarding a company’s health, safety and environmental policies, procedures, and codes.

  • Explaining the implementation and maintenance of health, safety, and environmental legislation in a workplace.



What is the pre-requisite for this course?


It is assumed that you are competent in:

  • Communication at NQF level 3. 

  • Mathematical Literacy at NQF Level 3.

  • Logistics at NQF level 3.

  • Business management at NQF level 3.
